In the footage, one can see two pet sitters with a boxer puppy. The puppy can be seen being beaten with an unknown object by one of the pet sitters. Thereafter the man grabs the dog and throws it outside.

Many social media users and animal lovers were outraged with what they saw and demanded justice.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA ensures charges of animal cruelty are at the forefront in terms of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962.

Breakfast with Martin Bester reached out to the National Council of SPCA’s (NSPCA) on the matter.

The NSPCA says: "The NSPCA is absolutely appalled at this despicable act of violence against an innocent animal. There is no excuse for committing such a crime. Perpetrators of the Animals Protection Act no 71 of 1962 are liable to punishment of either a fine, imprisonment, or both.  A case of animal cruelty will be opened under the aforementioned Act, and we are hopeful that our judicial system will hand down a sentence that is befitting for this atrocious crime. Furthermore, we would request that the perpetrators in the video will be denied ownership of animals in the future."

They reiterated: "We encourage the public to please report cruelty against ANY animal to their local SPCA, or the NSPCA if there is no local Society so that we may assist. When reporting a complaint, pictures and videos are extremely useful and can assist with conviction. The public is assured that their details will be kept confidential when reporting a complaint."
