With South Africa’s schools closed for more than six weeks due to the coronavirus lockdown, and no firm outline for when they will return, questions are being raised around the issue of school fees.
Parents are asking whether they should be expected to pay the full school fees even though their children are not physically attending?
Frik wears two hats. He is a parent of three children and chairman of a school governing body. He spoke to Breakfast with Martin Bester to discuss the matter.

Frik outlined the fees a school is responsible for even though South Africa is in lockdown.
“There are still salaries to be paid. One still has to pay taxes, water and lights. Especially in January, one usually pays more.”
