On 21 March 2006, the world's first tweet was sent.
Twitter is an American microblogging and social networking service on which users post and interact with messages known as "tweets".

Registered users can post, like, and retweet tweets, but unregistered users can only read those that are publicly available.
Over the years, Twitter became a hugely popular social media platform, especially for breaking news.

On 21 March 2006, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey sent the world's first tweet.
The first tweet was reported as: “Just setting up my twttr."

In 2021, the tweet was reportedly sold for over R4-billion as a non-fungible token.
According to reports, Twitter was first named Twttr.
