Amandla Stenberg is back to talk to South Africa regarding her name
In light of 'Hate You Give' star Amandla Stenberg mispronouncing her own name and consequently sustaining great backlash for it, she wants to have a conversation with South Africans.
Amandla Stenberg is an American actress and has many accolades. Recently, the 'Hate You Give' star caused a frenzy for mispronouncing her South African name, which is a Xhosa name.
In a TikTok video, Misa Narrates said Stenberg "doesn't have the tongue nor the interest" to do justice to the pronunciation of her Xhosa name.
This story went viral and the actress has seen many of the responses - and decided to voice her opinion.
Amandla said: "Okay, so I am coming on here because I’ve seen a lot of people talking about my name and how I pronounce it, and I want to get in the discourse because I’ve been thinking about these things a lot too".
