Kseniya Alexandrova, who represented Russia in the 2017 Miss Universe competition, sadly passed away on Tuesday, 12 August, after being injured in a car accident.

Alexandrova celebrated her wedding day just four months before the tragic incident.

According to the Russian publication, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Alexandrova sustained severe brain injuries after an elk crashed through her windshield in Tver Oblast, Russia.

The couple had been driving home on 5 July when their car collided with the animal, and Alexandrova later died in hospital due to complications from her injuries.

Her husband had been driving with Alexandrova in the passenger seat when the elk suddenly jumped in front of the car.

Ilya also shared that other drivers stopped and offered assistance before the emergency services arrived 15 minutes later.

Alexandrova was transported to a hospital in Moscow, where, after being in a coma, her injuries proved fatal.

She had represented Russia in the Miss Universe pageant in 2017 after being crowned the first runner-up in the Miss Russia competition that same year.

Having earned a degree from Moscow Pedagogical State University, Alexandrova was also a practising psychologist.

Her modelling agency, Modus Vivendis, also confirmed the devastating news in a statement shared on Instagram.

The translated statement reads: "It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our colleague and friend, model Kseniya Alexandrova, passed away last night.

Kseniya was bright, talented and extraordinarily bright. She knew how to inspire, support and give warmth to everyone around her. For us, she will forever remain a symbol of beauty, kindness and inner strength.

We sincerely mourn and express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Kseniya."
