According to researchers, there is a set time for falling asleep that is healthy and "normal".

Everyone knows a healthy sleep schedule and enough rest are important for everyday living.

On certain nights, it might take you longer to fall asleep, or you might be exhausted and fall asleep quickly.

If you are struggling with this, it might indicate an underlying issue.

Research shows that it should take an adult 10 to 20 minutes to fall asleep, called sleep latency.

A study has shown that sleep quality will decrease if you fall asleep longer than half an hour.

It may be difficult to fall asleep now and then, but if it is a continuous problem, there are things to consider.

Healthline states that the following reasons could result in not falling asleep:

  • a too-early bedtime
  • a poor bedtime routine
  • getting too much sleep
  • an underlying sleep condition

Falling asleep too quickly could be a sign of burnout and sleep deprivation.
