Matric exams and loadshedding: How will students be impacted?

The Matric exams are around the corner, and parents are wondering what effect loadshedding and other problems will have on them. Journalist Christelle du Toit breaks the situation down.

This year's Matric exams kick off with English paper 1, and people are wondering how students will be impacted by the various problems affecting the country.

The most pressing issue is that of loadshedding, which can cause many problems for learners. However; Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said she is confident loadshedding will not disrupt the writing of the final exams.
While the issue of loadshedding may not affect students while they are writing an exam during the day, there is a significant problem when it comes to studying.

Motshekga said that matric candidates would have to monitor their timetables in line with the loadshedding schedule, so that they can study at night.
