After spending months in France, it's no surprise that the Springboks were beyond excited to be able to come home to their own beds and their families.

For Deon Fourie, this reunion was exceptionally emotional.

In the first few weeks of the World Cup, Deon's father was becoming sicker and sicker and the family did not know whether to tell their son the news or not.

After the Tonga match, the family called him. There were tears, but at least he knew.

The Springboks arrived in SA on October 31st and Deon made his way straight to his father in the ICU in Rustenberg to celebrate with him.

He arrived with his medal around his neck and when he got to his father, he placed it around his neck and said: "This is for you."

For someone like Fourie who has not had the most straightforward rugby career, he made a lasting impact on the team and stole many SA hearts.

It was one of the many emotional moments the Springboks provided supporters in 2023.

You can just imagine what an incredibly proud and full-circle moment this must have been.

According to Netwerk24 and his mom Jeanette, it was an unbelievable moment; there were definitely some tears and all his dad could say was: "Wow that's quite heavy and just look how pretty!"
