Matthew Perry had been open about his various struggles with addiction in the past but had been sober for some time when he died unexpectedly.

In an interview, he had told reporter Athenna Crosby that he would love for Zac Efron to play him in a biopic of his life, as he had already portrayed him and he did such a good job.

Efron was Perry's co-star in the film '17 Again', where he played a younger version of the actor and others agreed that this would be an accurate choice.

Zac also recently spoke about the bond the two shared, how much he learned from him during their time together, and the immense gratitude he has for Perry:

There is no doubt that Matthew Perry is deeply missed by friends, family, and fans everywhere.
