Arguably one of the best lyrics from 'Hey Ya' is lead singer Andre3000's moment where he says "Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor".
But it seems like the song lyrics aren't all that fun.
In a series of videos titled 'Songs That Hit Different When You Know What They're Written About' Elizabeth explains that the song is actually about modern relationships.

What Andre3000 is saying is that people tend to stay in a relationship even when they no longer love their partner because they would rather do that than be alone.
