GOOD MORNING ANGELS 26 APRIL 2017 (SAOKGA/RILEY)

REQUEST FOR: 22-year-old Saokga Kathleen

ANGEL 1: 14-year-old Riley du Toit

SPONSORING: Riley was a finalist in the 2016 Miss Petite SA competition. Her charity project was to collect sanitary towels for school girls who cannot afford to buy these. Riley will pledge all her collected sanitary towels to Soakga’s cause. She will keep on collecting and invite fellow finalists to do the same - to help make Saokga’s dream come true. She will also arrange transport of the collected sanitary towels to where it will be distributed.

ANGEL 2:  The Good Morning Angels Fund

SPONSORING: The GMA Fund will donate R10,000 to Saokga’s cause to collect sanitary towels for school girls.

BACKGROUND: Saokga Mogotlane is a mechanical engineering apprentice, but she knows what it's like. She has seen it growing up in her own school in Mamelodi: girls too embarrassed to come to school because they cannot afford sanitary towels. Others use socks or newspaper. She decided to do something about this, to help school girls stay in school, throughout the month without embarrassment or discomfort. Saokga wants to collect 23,000 sanitary towels or 23,000 Rand’s worth of sanitary towels before her 23rd birthday on 5 August to distribute to school girls in need.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Hi Dianne,

I met Saokga during my travels in Limpopo and she told me about her dream of collecting 23,000 Sanitary Towels, or R23,000-worth of Sanitary towels, before her 23 Birthday which is on the 5th of August. I think that this is a great plan and I know that we would be able to assist her.

Saokga has many ideas that she wants to initiate in order to achieve this dream. Saokga would like to place collection boxes at stores as well as hosting Fun Walks/Runs in order to reach her goal of reaching her target.

I have included George Mamabolo in the mail. George is the provincial manager for Red Cross Limpopo. We ran their PSA campaign which was centred around a Sanitary Towel collection drive and I think that they could come on board to assist us with Saokga’s mission as they both share the same vision in wanting to assist young girls and turn them into the Woman of Tomorrow.

From my side, I am willing to assist in whatever Project Planning would be needed for this because it has a time frame that I can work into my schedule and I would really like to explore the avenues that we can take in order to reach this dream a reality.

Please let me know what else you would need from me or clarification.

Thank You,

Max
