After calling himself 'a Capetonian' for the past seven years, media personality Renaldo Schwarp recently moved back to his hometown, Centurion and he is lining up the best high school hits every Saturday,12:00-16:00 and Sunday, 10:00-14:00 on Jacaranda FM. We caught up with him to find out a few things that you probably didn't to know about the latest member of the Jacaranda FM family.

One word to describe 'Renaldo Schwarp' during High School?

One word isn't enough!

'Loud', 'Awkward' and 'Soms 'n bietjie stout'...

With a name like Renaldo, we assume you are good at sports?

Not at all! I tried my hand at rugby when I was 9 years old, but after the first match, my parents and coach saw that becoming the great sports star was not destined for me. So don't let the name fool you!

Which song reminds you of your high school days?

Having attended Hoërskool Centurion, sokkie-music was a big part of my school days. If I recall correctly,we actually had to sokkie for marks in Life Orientation… Safe to say that this came in very handy for all those varsity formals in Stellenbosch!

Songs that take me back; Gerhard Steyn's Baby Tjoklits, Bobby van Jaarsveld's Spieëltjie, but it's Kurt Darren's Kaptein that will always remind me of high school! Everytime I hear it I want to get up and just sokkie.

Did you always have a flair for fashion?

I never need an excuse to dress up. That was always the case, even back when I was in high school. I just love it, but sometimes I tend to push the boundaries a bit. I remember telling my parents I wanted to wear a lime green suit to my Matric Farewell - thank goodness they immediately said 'NO', cause that would have been disastrous.
