Healthy smoothie recipe for your heart

In today's recipe of the day, Mack Rapapali shows you how to get that easy breakfast snack going and with special emphasis on a healthy heart. 


The hero for today's smoothie is the avocado.

Did you know, avocados supply more soluble fibre than other fruit and contain a number of useful minerals including iron, copper and potassium. The oils supplied by an avocado include oleic acid and linoleic acid, these unsaturated fats are recommended as part of a balanced diet to help manage cholesterol. Avocados are a rich source of protective vitamin E as well as carotenes including lutein and zeaxanthin which are thought to help keep the eyes healthy.


1/2 Half  avo

1 cup almond milk

1 cup plain fat-free yoghurt

1 cup frozen berries of your choice.

Blend and share with your kids as an early breakfast, followed by your 8 glasses of water through the day. The smoothie also helps with keeping your brain focus going.
