WATCH: Teen cracks egg on senator during live briefing after Christchurch tragedy

An Australian senator had an egg cracked on his head for his controversial comments on the New Zealand shootings.

Senator Fraser Anning had a raw egg cracked over his head for implying that Muslim immigration was to blame for the tragic shootings that took place in New Zealand.

In a tweet on Friday, Anning asked: "Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?" 

There was an uproar over his comments and Senator Fraser Anning was called out for implying that Muslim immigration was to blame for the shootings.

During a live stream, television cameras caught the moment the boy broke an egg on Anning’s head during a news conference on Saturday in Melbourne. In the same video, the senator could be seen retaliating and punching the boy several times before he was tackled by a group of men protecting the senator.

The boy was arrested but released without a charge. He later shared a video of what happened after he was tackled. 

The boy was honoured for his 'brave' act and the hashtag #EggBoy started trending. Another video showing the boy being held by the senator's supporters has popped up.
