A horrifying video shared online has revealed the dangers of putting things in a baby's cot.

In the video that was shared by TikTok account Safesleepabc, the moment an infant pulls what is considered to be a comfort blanket over their face is captured - and they begin to suffocate!
The TikTok account focuses on educational videos on safe sleep for babies under 12 months.
The distressing footage sees the baby visibly struggling, unable to remove the blanket from their face as it blocks their airways.
In this instance, the parents managed to get to the infant on time but other families haven't been as lucky.

The Lullaby Trust, which raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome, recommends parents avoid using cot bumpers or leaving toys in a cot, saying a simple mattress in the cot with no loose bedding or bumpers is the safest sleeping place for a baby.
