Cattle farmer from kykNET’s 'Boer Soek ‘n Vrou' dies of COVID-19

Farmer Johan Uys, participant in the tenth series of the reality show 'Boer Soek ‘n Vrou' on kykNET, passed away from COVID-19 on Saturday. Johan Uys was the participant who often shed a tear on the series. He regularly made the news for his soft side, as well as his controversial comments about the female participants. The tenth series of the popular programme was presented by Minki van der Westhuizen.

The latest season of 'Boer Soek ‘n Vrou', that recently ended, was full of drama and even more tears!
Due to COVID-19, production on 'Boer Soek' n Vrou' was delayed and the producers, in collaboration with kykNET, had to come up with different ideas for the production process. "The safety of participants and the production team is a priority and numerous strict measures have been put in place to ensure this," said Wilmer Müller, spokesperson for the series.

Unlike previous years, prospective matchmakers did not send hand-delivered letters or parcels to farmers and the producers only accepted digital entries, which was also be accompanied by a video.
