The annual report on crime statistics in South Africa is awaited with much anticipation. On Tuesday, Fikile Mbalula, the Minister of Police, presented the statistics to parliament.

There was some positive news to accompany the negative. News24 reports that there has been an overall 1.8% decrease in crime compared to 2015/16; however, there has been an equal increase in murder cases.
