Dana McCool of Deltona, Florida recently paid her water bill - which came up to $500 - all in coins. Dana took this extreme measure in order to get the city's water officials to pay attention to the issue of exorbitant water rates.

Dana has been struggling to pay her rates and she says city officials in Deltona have been miscalculating residents' bills for quite some time. The average bill should not be more than $40, yet Dana has been receiving inflated bills from the city since 2016.

Dana filmed her trip to the Deltona Water offices:

Officials from the city's water department have said that they encourage residents to contact their offices as soon as they detect problems with their bills. They have also offered to check for leaks in residents' plumbing, as this could also be a contributing factor to the high rates.

Dana does not believe that enough is being done to help residents with the bill issues.

It took cashiers two hours to count out Dana's money. In South Africa, someone who wanted to pay such a large amount of money would likely not have succeeded, as there is a legal limit on the number of coins a person can use for a transaction.

What is the largest transaction you have ever made using only coins?
