This is how one deaf-blind soccer enthusiast gets the most out of the World Cup
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
One Brazillian soccer fan is determined not to let his disabilities stop him from enjoying the beautiful game.
Carlos Junior, a big fan of Brazil's national football team, would have missed out on celebrating his beloved team's performance in the World Cup if it weren't for interpreter Renato Rodrigues.
Renato sat with Carlos, who was born deaf and began losing his eyesight in his teens due to Usher syndrome, and helped him to feel his way through a game between Brazil and Costa Rica.
Using his hands, a table with a miniature pitch on it and some drums, Renato gave Carlos a play-by-play of the game. The smile on Carlos's face shows how much he appreciated being able to experience his team in action.
Of his decision to interpret the game for Carlos, Renato said: "We wanted him to feel the emotion that millions of Brazilians feel. It was a great experience guiding him."
