Football players participating in the World Cup have countless opportunities to show off their skills and steal the spotlight. Even something as simple as throwing a ball into play from the corner could catapult a player to fame.

Just ask Iran's Milad Mohammadi. During the 94th minute of the match between Iran and Spain, the defender stood at the corner of the field, ready to throw the ball in. What he did next shocked commentators and football fans alike.

The defender says a short prayer before lifting the ball up into the air and, before throwing it in, does a gymnastics flip. At the last second, Mohammadi decides not to throw the ball.
