"It was a joke" - Ryan Sandes runs 160 km around his house

South African ultra runner Ryan Sandes ran 160 km around his house. Yes, that was over 1,400 times!
Ryan Sandes has completed an outstanding 160km run at his home in Cape Town. Sandes completed a whopping 1463 laps of his house to reach the ultra 160km mark.

Sandes joined the Scenic Drive and spoke to Jacaranda FM's Joe Mann about the experience and the ultimate challenge.
"On April Fools' Day, I put out a joke on social media about running around the house. It was a joke.
"When the lockdown was extended - I thought it will be the ultimate mental challenge to do.
"It was extremely tough. It was a lot tougher than I expected.
"There was no good movement. It was a crazy idea - but I will never do it again," Sandes.
Joe Mann also spoke to former Olympic rower Lee-Ann Persse who also ran 160km around her house for a good course. Listen to the interview below.
