Travellers on a Jet Airways flight headed to Jaipur from Mumbai could not have expected to suffer from nose bleeds and shortness of breath before their journey had even begun.

On Thursday, 20 September several passengers on flight 9W 697 reported on social media that there was something very wrong on-board.

Footage showing oxygen masks being deployed is explained by a subsequent report from Lalit Gupta, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, which stated that "the crew had forgotten to select a switch to maintain cabin pressure".

The cabin crew's mistake led to the flight being redirected back to Mumbai, but not before 30 passengers experienced enough pain to warrant medical treatment upon landing.
