Lee Thompson is South Africa's most eligible 'Bachelor'
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
M-Net has revealed the man whose affections a bevy of hopelessly romantic beauties will be competing for on 'The Bachelor South Africa' in 2019.
Lee Thompson, former Sharks rugby player and international model, has been revealed as the first-ever South African Bachelor.
The businessman and philanthropist cuts a very impressive figure, what with his dark hair and chiselled features, and will surely have each of the contestants on The Bachelor South Africa swooning all through the first rose ceremony.
Lee ticks all the boxes that women interviewed by producers of the show had on their list for a perfect man: he is tall (something the women surveyed placed great importance on), kind-hearted, adventurous, and financially independent.
The women certainly have high expectations for the dream man they would want to marry, but how is Lee feeling about stepping into the role of 'The Bachelor'?
He tells Channel 24: "I can’t wait to meet and get to know the 25 ladies. Chemistry often works in mysterious ways and I have no preconceived ideas about who I want to spend the rest of my life with."
After reading the announcement, Rian had just one question: what would possess anyone to enter this kind of dating show?
Tune into M-Net on 14 February 2019 to watch Lee's journey to meeting - and proposing to - the mystery woman of his dreams.
