Listener shares top saving tips

Listener Marelize Horsford gave some helpful tips to save more money during a very difficult time.

South Africans are under constant pressure due to the prices of goods and services, so something has to give.

Statistician-general Risenga Maluleke said on Tuesday that the country’s unemployment rate in the second quarter of the year is the highest since 2008.

A whopping 7.8 million people are currently unemployed in the country, which is an increase from 7.2 million in the first quarter.

The figure translates into a 34.4% unemployment rate.

South Africans are currently forced to save more money to get through the month. 

Loyal listener Marelize Horsford visited the Scenic Drive to talk about saving more money.

"I do my own hair and nails. I also do not use fabric softener."

Horsford revealed that she prefers doing her own homework and laundry. 

"The whole family bathe in the same water. It's normally my daughter and me, then my husband and then our little girl. She prefers to bathe in cold water."
