Make My Monday: A day at a shooting range and dinner in the sky
Updated | By Scenic Drive With Rian
The Scenic Drive team decided to treat Sharron and her husband, Allen with a fun day at a shooting range.
We received a message from Sharron Dingle who says her husband needs a break. He has been through a lot in recent months having been retrenched more than once at the age of 61.
Sharron says her husband, Allen Dingle, loves the outdoors, but is especially crazy about guns and knives. She says he is very adventurous and gets like a boy in a toy shop whenever he is around guns.

HERE IS HER MESSAGE: "Thank you for an awesome radio station, you keep my humour in check and a smile on my face. I would like to make my husband's Monday. Although we have been together 7 years, married 5 years we have been through a WHOLE LOT OF STUFF together and it feels like we have always been together. He is a very "young" 61-year-old still fully employed and he seldom asks for something for himself. He is always looking at knives and guns and jeeps a real "boy" including the camo. It is hard to believe he fights the demon that many men face daily. By that I mean he made a few silly choices when he was younger and has also been retrenched twice since we are together and we have had some tight times even selling furniture for rent. I have become the main breadwinner and his heart breaks (and ego) daily with this especially when he has to ask me for money to get something or to buy me a gift. Our main treat is going to the Pretoria Boere-Mark and walking around there because it's free entrance and all we have to get is coffee and it is a lot of fun for us and we can dream about the things we want to get. I know this is a crazy request but I was wondering if it would be possible. Just to see that pride in his eyes when he can claim something that he is doing for us would be worth it to me. He has always dreamt of a meal in Fourways where they bungee jump or those meals in the sky. Please, please, please consider my request and help me to make him feel worthy again!"
WHAT THEY ARE GETTING:
Sharron and Allen are at the Skietbaan Shooting Range in Pretoria East where Francois and his team will be letting Allen shoot with high calibre guns like a 3006 and an AK-47. He will also be shooting with Protecta 12 gauge shotgun, Norinco type 56 (copy of the AK47) Brno 30-06, and is a Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum as seen in most Clint Eastwood movies.
They will also be getting a dinner in the Sky experience where they will be enjoying a three course meal in the sky. AND our friends at Soweto Towers, has offered Allen a free bungee-jump.
Now THAT is an
adventure!
