Restaurant manager gets emotional during national address

President Cyril Ramaphosa has moved the country to adjusted level 4 of the lockdown for at least the next 14 days.

A photo of a manager of a restaurant who was deeply upset and almost close to tears after hearing the news of the new level 4 lockdown in South Africa is going viral on social media.

Ramaphosa addressed the nation on Sunday evening amid mounting concern over the surge in COVID-19 infections.

His address comes days after the scientists announced that the highly transmissible Delta variant is circulating in five provinces and is now the dominant strain in South Africa.

Ramaphosa further mentioned that restaurants will only be permitted to open for take-aways and delivery.

Ramaphosa has also instituted a complete ban on the sale of alcohol.

Many restaurants have had to close their doors for the next two weeks - and it has caused a lot of emotions for many. The photo that is currently going viral was allegedly taken at exactly 8:20 pm after the President announced that restaurants would be closing again.
