In October, the Democratic Alliance's (DA) Randall Williams was elected as the mayor of the City of Tshwane.

Williams is a South African politician and attorney.

The city’s council reconvened in October for the first time in eight months to elect a new mayor.

The sitting followed a ruling by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in favour of the DA, which confirmed an earlier High Court decision that ruled the dissolution of the Tshwane council unlawful.

In his inaugural speech, Williams said the dissolution of the council was nothing short of chaotic.

“An executive mayor is only as strong as the people he surrounds himself with,” Williams added.

Williams joined the Scenic Drive to share more about what is lying ahead as he took over the role.

"The main mandate is to do the work of what a municipality is supposed to do, and that is to clean parks, fix potholes, fix broken lights, garbage collection," Williams.
