Over the past weekend, the Proteas couldn't qualify for the semi-finals after slumping to a 49-run defeat against fellow strugglers Pakistan at Lord's.

According to Faf du Plessis, the players were suffering from a chronic lack of confidence.

Rian van Heerden wanted to know what the problem is and invited school kids to share their views.

Jordan Neil, Tshiamo Lebolowane and Jordan Hermann joined Rian and the Scenic Drive tea.

Jordan Neil is the current captain of the first cricket team at Cornwall Hill. He is in Grade 12.

"Every team goes through rough times - but I think they tried their best," Neil told Rian.

Tshiamo is an intern at Cornwall Hill College. Last year he was the captain of the first cricket team. He is currently helping out with coaching junior teams.

Tshiamo believes that they went wrong at the selection process for the team.

Jordan Hermann is in Grade 12 at Hoërskool Waterkloof. He is the captain of the first cricket team and is planning to keep on playing cricket for Tukkies next year.

"The team selection was the problem - they needed to pick young players who are more fit," he told Rian.

He also believes that the team should go back to basics.
