Sports Illustrated model walks the runway while breastfeeding

In a move that brings society closer to removing the stigma around breastfeeding, model Mara Martin walked the Sports Illustrated runway with her five-month-old daughter attached to her breast.
For many mothers, breastfeeding is a natural part of raising children. Despite the known benefits of breastfeeding, society still berates mothers for feeding their children in public.
Slowly, and with the help of prominent figures in parliament, people all over the world are beginning to think differently about what it means for women to breastfeed in public.

Model Mara Martin, who walked in a Sports Illustrated swimwear show on Sunday, 15 July, made a bold statement about breastfeeding when she strode down the catwalk with her five-month-old daughter Aria attached to her breast.

Mara's turn on the runway grabbed headlines, with Metro reporting that Mara is happy to have shared a positive message about women "having it all".

While many people were praising Mara for the confidence with which she made her statement, some pointed out that her walk down the runway was an "attention-seeking" stunt.
