A spot in the South African Hall of Fame for golfer Dale Hayes
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Former pro golfer Dale Hayes will be inducted into the South African Hall of Fame in Sun City on 7 November 2018.
Dale Hayes began making his mark in the world of golf in his teens when he competed in the 1969 Junior World Golf Championships. He went on to play - and win - the Swiss, Italian, French and Spanish Open during the European tours in the late 1970s. Hayes won the South African PGA Championship Tour in 1974, 1975 and 1976.
After retiring from tour golf Hayes began presenting a show on the Golf Channel as well as making various other efforts to grow golf as a popular sport in South Africa.
On 7 November his life's efforts will be recognised as he is inducted into the South African Hall of Fame in Sun City. He will be in the company of the likes of Gary Player.
Hayes says that the best part about golf is that it tests every aspect of a person's character, determination and imagination included. It may sound as if Hayes has done everything a golfer would ever hope to do, but there is still one course that he would love to play on. The "Teeth of the Dog" at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic is a dream destination for Hayes, no doubt because the Republic itself is said to be a beautiful place to travel to.
