Takeaway Wednesday: Mengelslaai met 'n Twist
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Everyone has a tried and tested green salad recipe that they make to impress family and friends. Here's Liezl Roets's recipe.
A green salad is an easy way to add vegetables to a meal: tomatoes, lettuce, onions, olives, baby spinach - the options are endless. But green salads can also be boring: aside from ordinary dressing, it can be difficult to add interesting elements to the side dish.
That's where Rian's search for a green salad with an interesting twist came from. He asked listeners of The Scenic Drive to send through recommendations and several people voted for Liezl Roets's recipe, which uses Big Korn Bites as its special ingredient.
Liezl Roets's green salad recipe
Ingredients (all the usual green salad elements)
- Lettuce
- Cucumber
- Feta cheese
- Tomatoes
- Green or yellow pepper
Make a salad as you usually would, and then fetch one packet of beef flavoured Big Korn Bites. Crush the chips until they are fine and then sprinkle them on top of the salad ingredients.
To take thing even further, Liezl suggests you use mayonnaise, tomato sauce and sweet chilli sauce to mix a dressing that is sure to impress your guests.
