A Pretoria couple, Charl and Etta Venter, have human-like dolls as 'children'.
Charl and Etta Venter from Pretoria have an unusual family. The couple has three human-like dolls as 'children', who they dearly love.
Charl and Etta know that they are only dolls - but they make the couple happy.

Charl has two children of his own. However, Etta, who has diabetes, was told to rather not have children due to health reasons. In an interview with Huisgenoot, Etta said that the dolls are therapeutic and it fills "an emptiness inside her".

Charl and Etta Venter joined the Scenic Drive to share more about their life with their three 'children'.
"This is my children. I take them to the shops. It fills that emptiness inside me," Etta.
"We considered to adopt, but to be honest, financially we aren't able to," Charl.
