'Kom Ons Braai' is a reality show where three groups of people come together and braai for each other to win a prize at the end.
Reeken is a foodie and entrepreneur that knows a lot about food. Reeken has been judging the contestants' food on the show - and we tested her culinary skills.
Our producer, Dewald van Niekerk, came up with a challenge for Danny Painter, Philicity Reeken, and Joe Mann. The team had to come up with a salad but the only ingredients they could find in their homes. This is how it went down...
Danny Painter
It’s my favourite salad. Cucumber, onion, homemade pickled chillies, feta and mint. The dressing - pickle chilli juice, a dash of honey, olive oil, pepper.
Philicity Reeken
It's a Morrocan inspired salad. Toasted chickpeas in cumin, coriander and chilli flakes. Fresh spinach, sorrel and coriander from my garden, feta and raw red onion with garlic, orange, vinegar, olive oil dressing. Nasturtiums flower for kick.
Joe Mann
Chakalaka: Baked beans, tomato, mango achar, fried carrots with garlic & herbs.
