Waiter fired and forced to share R70,000 tip

A waitress was fired after she received a tip of over R70,000 and was also forced to share the tip amongst co-workers.

Ryan Brandt, a waitress at the Oven and Tap restaurant in Bentonville, and another co-worker were given a tip over R70,000. However, she was later forced to share it between her and all her co-workers.

After receiving the large tip, she was told that she will be taking home 20% of the money and the rest will be shared with the rest of her co-workers, something she said had never happened in the three years she worked at the restaurant.

According to reports, the tipper, known as Grant Wise, later asked the restaurant to give the tip back - and he gave it to Brandt outside.
She was later fired.

Wise has started an online fund-raising campaign to help Brandt out.
