More than half a million people have fled Ukraine since Russia invaded on Thursday. But why is Russia invading Ukraine? A Russian lawyer explained the situation to Rian van Heerden.
Jacaranda FM News reported that more than half a million people have fled Ukraine since Russia invaded Thursday.
"Refugees have now fled from Ukraine into neighbouring countries," UN refugee chief Filippo Grandi said in a tweet around midday Monday.

On Sunday, Jacaranda FM News reported that Russia ordered its troops to advance "from all directions" as it pounds the Ukrainian military with cruise missiles.
South Africa's Ambassador to the Ukraine André Groenewald spoke to Breakfast with Martin Bester about the current situation between Russia and Ukraine.
Groenewald ensured South Africans that he is safe and has been assisting trapped South Africans.

Groenewald has urged fellow Kyiv residents and South Africans to avoid roads and take shelter where possible.
"The problem now is to get South Africans to the borders to get them out but the circumstances are really bad."
Even though people are supporting Ukraine during the deadly invasion, a Russian lawyer shared his views on why Russia is invading the Ukraine.
Rian van Heerden spoke to a Russian lawyer about the current situation and to why Russia is invading Ukraine.
