Footage shot by an audience member shows the bear charging at the handler. An assistant came out on stage and, according to Metro.co.uk, beat the bear with a stick. After this, the bear appears to calm down, and the show continues.
Members of the Melanzh circus group say that the handler wasn't hurt, and that what happened with the bear is nothing out of the ordinary. "The handler and the bear lost their understanding for a moment. It can happen any time", they told the Daily Mail.
