'Florida Man' laughs in the face of Hurricane Florence
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Lane Pittman has become known for dancing to heavy metal music in the middle of bad storms.

Lane Pittman from Jacksonville Beach, Florida is not afraid to walk into the eye of a storm. He did it during Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
Donning a pair of blue shorts he walks into the storm waving an American flag and completes the act by headbanging to some heavy metal.
He calls himself "Florida Man" - and no storm is a match for his enthusiasm.
On Friday, 14 September, Lane posted a video of his latest escapade to his YouTube channel. He went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to face Hurricane Florence. In a moment that defied orders from the authorities to evacuate the area, Lane "was captured on film holding an American flag while headbanging to heavy metal music as Florence’s 85 mph winds and rain pelted him".

The 136km/h winds did not bother Lane at all and when a broadcaster covering the storm spotted Lane and asked him what he was doing, he replied: "Just being free and American, man. I don’t let anything oppress me, especially no dang-gone freakin hurricane. [sic]"
Freedom of expression does not cover what happens to you if you walk right into the middle of a storm, but Lane, who raised over $600 for his trip using GoFundMe, seems confident that he can handle anything.
Why else would he brave the cold weather to wave his head wildly while Slayer's "Raining Blood" blares in the background?
