Police officers resuscitate drowning kangaroo
Updated | By High School Hits Classics with Barney Simon
Two police officers in Victoria, Australia have been hailed as heroes after saving a kangaroo from drowning.
When two police officers in Victoria, Australia responded to a call about a baby kangaroo flailing in the waves at Safety Beach, they were prepared to do whatever it took to rescue the marsupial.
Noticing that it was stuck in the waves, struggling to swim and coughing up large amounts of salt water, the police officers immediately waded into the water to rescue the baby kangaroo.
The two officers managed to pull the animal to the shore by its tail and wrap it in a blanket to keep it warm. The officers administered CPR to revive the animal, using compressions similar to those that one of the men had seen a vet use on a dog before. The kangaroo was released into the care of a local wildlife organisation; they expect the animal to make a full recovery.
