Half-ton man successfully moved from home to hospital after being told by 10 hospitals that they could not accommodate a person his size.
60-year-old Edenvale resident Corrie La Grange was admitted to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, where he hopes to receive treatment for a medical condition called ascites (symptoms include abdominal swelling, edema, which is the swelling of the feet, a serious skin condition and severe water retention).

La Grange was lifted from his bed using sheets and ropes by paramedics and his family and transferred into a vehicle.
Since his wife, Shammy's plea for medical assistance stating that "... he’s going to die if nobody helps him.” the Gauteng Health Department has committed to providing adequate infrastructure to deal with patients suffering from rare medical conditions such as ascites.
