Shaleen Surtie-Richards is undoubtedly one of the most iconic faces of the South African entertainment industry. With many accolades under her belt, she has crept into the hearts of South Africans all over the country.
Shaleen started her career in entertainment in 1984 and is still going strong. Over the years she has become a household name who is loved by all due to her quirky nature. Shaleen is best known for her role in Fiela Se Kind in 1988 where she played the role of Fiela.
Having starred in countless movies, television productions and shows, Shaleen has had to memorize quite a few scripts in her day. We asked Shaleen to give us her top 5 favourite lines of all time from movies or shows she has done. This morning she acted the lines and scenes out again and will definitely put a smile on your face for hearing them again.
With 16 days of activism against woman and children, Shaleen has embarked on a roadshow to help create awareness around this massive problem. They will embark on a 2000km roadshow that they call “2000km for 20 000 women and children”. They will visit towns and villages in 5 provinces such as shown on this map. It will end in Upington in the Northern Cape, the town where Shaleen was born. Shaleen’s role in this roadshow is to educate women and young girls. An amazing initiative!
