GMA Extra: Anevay on the road to recovery
Updated | By Bronwyn Hardick

Background
We met 3-year old Anevay's moms, Gerda and Raulien last month, as they were sitting next to her hospital bed in the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town. Anevay had a big brain operation to help relieve symptoms of her rare condition, Moyamoya, that has caused her to have suffered strokes. Anevey is one of triplets and she also has an older 4-year old brother. The condition cannot be cured, but the operation was needed to restore the veins, to prevent strokes. Before the operation, she had already suffered two strokes. Her parents, Gerda and Raulien have a medical aid that covers a lot of the costs, but as always, there are many medical and logistical costs to the family, that are not covered. An anonymous donor and the Good Morning Angels Fund helped out with R40 000,00. The likelihood is that this is also just the first of more operations to come ... This morning we catch up with Gerda and Raulien, as they've returned from hospital in Cape Town, back in Gauteng.
