GMA: Helping a quadriplegic regain his dignity
Updated | By The Complimentary Breakfast
Jaco de Beer was left paralysed from the neck down after a horrific car accident. He needs help to restore his dignity.

REQUEST FOR:
Jaco de Beer
ANGEL 1:
Christo Bezuidenhout on behalf of the Round Table
SPONSORING:
The Round Table will assist Jaco with a special hydraulic hoist, to lift and move him around, as well as a lift to put in the bath, so Jaco can get in and out easily to the total value of R35 000,00
BACKGROUND:
Jaco de Beer is a 34 year old father and husband. He took pride in providing and caring for his family. This all changed in a moment in March last year, when he was in a road accident. He survived, but lost the use of his legs and most of his body. The accident left him an "incomplete" quadriplegic, as he still has some use of his arms.
Jaco has not been able to earn an income since the accident and his wife is now the only provider for their young family. She is also Jaco's main care-giver, as he is dependent on her for most of his day. They've moved back to his parent's house to share some of the burden, but Jaco does not want to be a burden. He wants to be able to help himself with basic things like taking a bath, however the family has no way of buying the necessary equipment to regain some independent mobility.
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
I am Jaco de Beer, 34 years old, quadriplegic incomplete, from Witbank, Mpumalanga in need of help. I was in a motor vehicle accident on 12 March 2014 - almost a 1 year and a half ago.
I sustained multiple fractures in my spine from C4 to T7, leaving me paralyzed from the neck down. I've been struggling to get help.
We are currently struggling to keep going as it is very costly being a quadriplegic with no income. We are living with my parent's at this moment and any help, no matter how small, will be gratefully appreciated. You will be surprised how much a small gift can change my life!!
We are in need of financial help to living and filling supplies related to my care.
Bathroom accessories, diappers and catheter, catheter bags and meds for spasms and pain
As my wife is my only caregiver we are relying on donations.
I am in need of a patient lift hoist to help me in bed and bath.
I am in need of electrical wheelchair for to make it possible to do things with my kids.
I need to set up a trust fund account.
