The GMA Fund will match the Round Table's donation with R25 000,00 towards the medication to help "Operation Smile" a reality

Background:

"Operation Smile" is a drive by a group of dedicated medical professionals and volunteers, with all sorts of skills, to repair the cleft palates, cleft lips and other facial deformities of 100 children from all over the country, who would otherwise not be able to smile. They are performing these life-changing operations over the next two weeks at the Rob Ferreira Hospital in Mbombela. Even though the medical skills, time and facilities are free of charges, Operation Smile needs to raise the funds to cover the hard costs, medication, travel and boarding, at an average of R5500,00 per child. Operation went searching for the patients from May to July - across the country. Besides the fact that their faces look different from most other people, these children have to overcome speech impediments, difficulty to eat and isolation. However, once Operation Smile is done - a hundred more children will have the ability to smile.

Morning Dianne,

Please see the info for "Adopt a Smile" in Nelspruit. They are trying to secure enough funds to "fix" the smiles of 100 children with cleft palates, cleft lips and other facial deformities in two weeks. The hospital, doctors and other personnel have donated their time and skills for free, but they still need around R5500,00 per child to operate and fix their smiles. 

We start on Monday, 28 September until 9 October 2015.
