You participate in negotiating your country's transition to democracy. Your efforts are successful as displayed by the peaceful transition into a new political dispensation. You also assume office and later move back into business. What would you say about the state of the country right now?

ANC stalwart Mathews Phosa - who was part of the ANC's Codesa delegation in the early 90's - caught up with Rian on The Complimentary Breakfast to share his thoughts on South Africa and more stating: "Let's concede that there's many correct things that were done in 1994: the transition was very peaceful, the army supported the new dispensation, the police did and South Africans voted for the parties of their own choice. That was setting a very good tone with very clear messages from Former President Nelson Mandela on nation-building and reconciliation. I don't think we should drop that ball - we should go to schools, churches, everywhere. And the political leadership should say 'How do we build a nation?' I think we took it for granted that reconciliation would happen because it's written in the Constitution - it's wrong!"

Phosa's thoughts on the state of leadership and what he would do if here President?

"I would pledge support of the Constitution and go out there and say 'we must live the Constitution' and support the Public Protector, the Human Rights Constitution and all the checks and balances of the Constitution. I would reduce the size of Cabinet to less than 35 and have a lean and mean Cabinet that would run the country."
