The moment Pravin Gordhan was moved to tears at Ahmed Kathrada's funeral
It has truly been a tough few days for our Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
There was no doubt that the funeral of Ahmed Kathrada would be a bitter sweet day for South Africa, not only are we sad about the passing of the late, great anti-apartheid activist but it would also be a chance to celebrate his life.
However, one piece of news threatened to overshadow events.
Over the last few days, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has been in the firing line.
Many have claimed that he would be fired in the very near future.
At the funeral, the minister was brought to tears as Neeshan Balton, director of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, shared a message to Gordhan.
"Irrespective of whether you’re a minister or not in days or weeks to come, you remain true to the values and principles that Ahmed Kathrada would be proud of,” said Balton.
