Project Khanya: The reality of life in the dark

Project Khanya: The reality of life in the dark

Join the Jacaranda FM team on Thursday as we do a full day telethon for Project Khanya. We challenge you to get involved and help us light up a quarter of a million lives of the children of South Africa.

Project Khanya

With Project Khanya, 5 000 children’s lives have been lit up in Alexandra. Jacaranda FM together with Consol went to Minerva High School, Pholosho Primary School and Doctor Knak Primary School.

Jacaranda FM is proud to be part of this joint initiative and looks forward to partnering with Consol and listeners in a unique campaign that aims to bring about meaningful change at a grass roots level where the need is greatest. With this being said, Jacaranda FM will be hosting a telethon to assist in raising funds for the second phase of Project Khanya. The aim is to have corporates and individuals pledge sums of money to assist in lighting up more lives.

The next phase has looked at going to Amazing Grace Children’s Home in Lenasia, Dynamic Women of Children in Montana Park and Hanna Grobler Charities.

About Project Khanya

Jacaranda FM together with Consol Glass are embarking on a project to light up homes in poverty stricken areas within the entire Jacaranda FM footprint by supplying homes with Consol solar jars. Full details of the campaign will be rolled out soon, but on the Complimentary Breakfast show this morning and, heralding to Rian’s plea for a solar jar supplier, Consol Glass came on board with a donation of R750,000 worth of Consol solar jars.

The Jacaranda FM team alongside Rian van Heerden will be handing out these Consol solar jars to children in underprivileged communities.

In true Jacaranda FM listener spirit, we have had an overwhelming response from listeners who are already looking to get involved. Stay tuned for opportunities in helping us distribute these jars and identifying communities in need of them. In the meantime though, a mere R100 donation or more will allow us to add to the distribution of Consol solar jars across South Africa.
