TCB Super Kids: Dionique's selfless donation
The Complimentary Breakfast is searching for SA’s Super Kids: children who have gone beyond the call of duty to help their fellow man, animals or nature.
We received this email telling us about little Dionque:
Dear Riaan and Good Morning Breakfast Team
I have a friends Monique and Dion who have two beautiful children, Dionique and Damian.
My story is about Dionique who is an amazing, grounded, petite little girl, who is in Grade one this year. She is fair skinned and had up until yesterday beautiful locks of brown hair that were right down to her bottom. Instead of just wanting to play dolls and games, she made a decision to make a change in someone else’s life. She has been asking her mom to take her to the hairdresser to have her hair cut for a couple of weeks. Yesterday was D-day and off they went to the hairdresser and cut her hair off at shoulder length. She told everyone that she is going to donate the hair that was cut off to a company (I can’t remember the name of the company) that will make two wigs for children that have cancer. Everyone in the salon at that stage was touched and in tears by what she had done.
When I spoke to her about this selfless act, she wasn’t fazed about losing her locks, she was happy that she would be helping a little girl that was “kaalkop”(her words) because of cancer. She also told me that she is going to grow her hair and will do the same again. I told her that she will be blessed in some many ways because of what she did.
I would like to nominate this amazing little angel as a super kid.
