Hippo rescues wildebeest from hungry crocodile
Updated | By Kriya Gangiah
This is probably one of the most amazing heroic displays we have seen.
While on a recent trip to the Kruger National Park, 72-year-old Mervyn Van Wyk and his wife Tokkie were definitely in the right place at the right time.
Mervyn explained to Latestsightings.com: “ As we approached the dam we noted that blue wildebeest, zebras and impalas were happily grazing on the opposite side of the dam. I turned the car into position so that my wife had a clear view as she wanted to take a few pictures. We happened to notice that one unlucky wildebeest was grabbed by a crocodile on his right rear hoof."

After a few minutes two hippos can be seen approaching the croc and all of a sudden they spring on him forcing him to release his grip.
According to Latestsightings.com, the behaviour displayed by the hippos is most probably territorial behaviour.
