In this win, van Niekerk record a Diamond League record, a meeting record and a World Leader, the best mark achieved worldwide within a given season.

South Africans couldn't contain their excitement!

Just last week van Niekerk made world history and became the first man to go sub-10 for 100m, sub-20 for 200m, sub-31 for 300m and sub-44 for 400m, according to the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Van Niekerk set a new world record in the little-run 300m at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic last Wednesday.

And Tuks athlete Akani Simbine has recorded his 15th sub 10s in the 100m, finishing 3rd at the Diamond League Series in Lausanne.
