Counting down the MBD's 10 biggest moments of 2015!

10. The MBD loves to hear from Jacaranda FM listeners about some of their most interesting stories happening in their lives, which they would like to share with us. A listener called the show and shared quite a personal confession on air with her boyfriend listening on the other side of the line:
9. Martin discovered that Pulane has a hidden talent no one else knew about! She can actually sing very well, but what caught everyone by surprise is her ability to impersonate other singers.
8. During a live outside broadcast of the MBD’s #jacarandaseverywhere campaign – welcoming the blooming jacaranda trees in Pretoria; something totally unexpected happened. The team heard from the neighbours that they believe Heyneke Meyer might be a resident of the area, but they were not certain. Watch what happened next!
7. The MBD embarked on a journey to turn a very average dancer into Magic Mike! Ladies where asked to nominate the men in their lives and ultimately the winner, Charl Levitate Odendaal came out triumphant. Watch his performance:
6. The MBD launched the Celeb Challenge Chain through a direct challenge to Robbie Wessels to do an English version cover of Bobby van Jaarsveld’s ‘Spieeltjie Spieeltjie. ’ Robbie then challenged Bobby van Jaarsveld and so the celeb challenges continued.
5. Find Martin Bester A Bestie Search – In June of 2015 Martin had to say goodbye to his old team but one team member stood out; Mike, his former producer. Martin realized that Mike was more of a best friend than a producer and struggled to come to terms with his loss. His new team decided its time we put a stop to this and staged an intervention, which included a search to find Martin a new bestie and he ended up with Calvin van Niekerk!
4. Stars on MBD & MBD Unplugged: everyone from Selena Gomez, Hugh Masekela, Adam Sandler & many others were featured in 2015. Watch Martin catch up with pop star Selena Gomez during a Hotel Transylvania 2 press junket:
And that time the MBD called it (!) when Karabo Mogane featured on MBD Unplugged the week before he won Idols Season 11:
3. Fourie du Preez breaks the world record in fumbling an MBD liner: Echbert Boezak joined the Springboks in the UK for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He caught up with Bok player, Fourie du Preez, who seemed determined to get a liner requested by Echbert juuuust right:
2. Casper de Vries reminded Martin of their challenge to do a special #sillyxmas Abba video for Christmas. The two went ahead to make the video and it turned out to be one of the funniest festive season videos of 2015:
1. The MBD is known for caring about our Rhinos and doing something about it through the Purple Rhino Project. The team decided to put together a Purple Rhino Party at Ridgeback Centurion – to raise funds for the Purple Rhino Project. The team managed to raise R300 000 in just 3 hours!
